Our world is plagued by problems. Murder, stealing, hunger, poverty, illness, accidents, and war are just some of the troubles that we face in the world today.
If you could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, how would you organize your new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems?
Start by describing what that perfect place would be like with each of these problems eliminated.
Please respond by Friday. Remember to follow the rules for posting to this Blog.
If I could start over on another planet, I would make it a perfect place by eliminating each of these problems. I would begin rules restricting murder, stealing, and war. If the human race could begin again on this planet, it would grow with these rules starting from their childhood. The rules would become a part of them throughout their life, ensuring safety amongst them. However, on this new planet, unlike the Community in which Jonas and the Giver live, I would not have the people live in Sameness. I would not restrict uniqueness and I would not eliminate colors. I would have the people learn to live with imperfection in people and their society. Though they would be at peace, they would still need to learn how to overcome other's differences and accept them. I also would not use the rules of the Community relating to respect. Respect is something earned. Though the Community's rules relating to respect are appropriate in obtaining a proper code of conduct, people should have the right to free speech and should learn how to respect others through experience.
ReplyDeleteIf we started life on a new planet then no one would get robbed because everyone would have almost the same objects. Also, there would be world peace and no world hunger because everyone would be equal and therewould be no money required for food. If we acomplished this then peace and harmony would come back to the world.
ReplyDeleteIf I started over on another planet, I would not cause or create the violence that we have in our modern society. I would thwart the violence, murders, and any other senseless activity right now. Harmony should be brought our society today, and no irrational activity. This experience should be brought to our planet, ensuring safety, unique activity.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would organize my new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems by creating peace. harmony, prosperity, and everyone should have determination and freedom. I would present rules and laws such as if anyone steals or murders, they would be sentenced to jail to be treated a lesson, however, he/she will not be killed. I would want everyone on this planet to live as the rules were a part of them, and I would want everyone to have power in themselves and always believe in themselves and in their friends and family. Even if someone is rich or poor, others should not treat them as an outsider or the most popular person in the whole world.Everyone must be treated evenly.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet,or in a place far away, everyone in my community will be treated equally. I would create rules restricting murder and stealing. The world we be peaceful because everyone is equal.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, far away, everyone would be treated nicely. There would be policemen everywhere around every corner of each block, guarding and watching to see if there seeks any torture or harm of any kind to any human or creature. This planet of mine would have no harm, and everyone will be happy with a healthy environment.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would organize my new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems by making laws of not doing each of these problems of murder, stealing, hunger, poverty, illness, accidents, and war. For murder, I could make a law of "If you murder someone, you will be sent to prison." If the problem of murder was eliminated, the perfect place would be a happy place without anyone being killed by someone else. For stealing, I could make a law of "If you steal from someone, you will be punished by being reported to the leader of the community." If the problem of stealing was eliminated, the perfect place would be a no-stealing zone, which can make people happy. For hunger, I can make a law of "If you can, share food with people to have no one be killed by the starvation of food." If the problem of hunger was eliminated, the perfect place would be a place where no one can die of being hungry. For poverty, I can make a law of "If possible, donate money, clothing and other things to the people that are in poverty." If the problem of poverty was eliminated, the perfect place would be that no one will go through poverty. For illness, I can make make a law of "Always help the person through illness find a cure." If the problem of illness was eliminated, the perfect place would be that no one would have to suffer a long time of illness if people found a cure for the illness to lessen or disappear. For accidents, I can make a law of "No one shall make accidents of injuring or killing anyone. If do, the person who caused the accident will be sent prison for a long time period depending on how much the accident caused." If the problem of accidents was eliminated, the perfect place would be that there will be no more accidents, and the people will not have to worry about being hurt or injured in my community. For war, I can make a law of "No one shall make an argument that can cause a war to happen. If war happens, the person who caused the war would be sent to prison and be kept chained for a short period of time." If the problem of war was eliminated, the perfect place would be that no one will be killed or injured by the law of not allowing war to occur.
ReplyDeleteIf each of these problems are eliminated, the new community would be very peaceful. Many people would then feel much safer and worry-free. I would organize these problems in their own special way. For murder, I would make a law that if you commit a murder crime, the suspect would be sent to prision FOR LIFE. No matter how bad the murder, murder is a terrible crime, and whoever has done it should be puished with a life sentence to prision. For stealing,I would make a law that if you steal, you must return what you have stolen and be sent to jail. What you have stolen depends on how long you stay in jail. For hunger, I would make a law that every one a week, you must donate some kind of food for the hungry and homeless. This will help prevent hunger. For poverty, I would make many shelters for ones without houses and little money. I would make as many as it would take to have everyone shelteredand happy. For illnesses, I would not charge money for anything. If someone needs care, why should they be charged? If there is an accident, I would help the injured. Even if it was ones fault, I would still not charge for medical care. And lastly, for war, I WOULD NOT HAVE WAR. War just causes more madness than there acually was before. If anyone has any problems, they come to me. I will try my best to help and settle the problem. Will all this happening, everyone must remember, I cannot please everyone, but I would try my best.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over on a different planet, I will make all people happy by making them loving, respectful, kind, understanding, unselfish, and giving to each other. I will end hunger, poverty and stealing by having all people give and share what they have like food, clothes, and housing. Everything will be free but people need to help each other grow more crops, raise animals and improve technology so we will not run out of resources and energy. Murders will be eliminated if we all treat each other fairly and right. Accidents and illnesses will be avoided if we make our surroundings safe to live in. Finally, wars will be ended if we all respect each other and consider ourselves all equal, all of us with a good heart and not one better than the other.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would organize my new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems by first making rules. Everyone is to follow these rules:
ReplyDelete1.) NO MURDER. No one is to murder any other human being. CONSEQUENCE: You shall be sentenced to jail-time for 10 years. Without murder, everyone would feel safe in their homes.
2.) NO STEALING. Stealing is hereby BANNED from this community. CONSEQUENCE: You will be presented in court to decide whether to send you to jail or give you a second chance. Without thieves, people would know that their priceless or antique items are safe.
3.) NO HUNGER. Everyone shall be fed four/five times a day: breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, and possibly dessert. Without hunger, no one will die of starvation.
4.) NO POVERTY. Since food (as well as other important items) are provided, there is no need for money. People do not have to pay for their houses- there is no government in 'the community'. Without poverty, no one shall gain more respect for being so wealthy, and people will not get turned aside for being so poor. EVERYONE EARNS THE SAME RESPECT.
5.) NO ILLNESS. Medicine shall be provided for those who suffer any type of disease or sickness. Without illness, everyone will most likely NOT get infected, and everyone will not have to suffer the same illness someone else already went through.
6.) NO ACCIDENTS. No cars shall be available in the community, hence where the accidents usually occur. Either your legs or bicycles are everyone's way of transportation. Bicycles include lights, a set of safety gear, and little baskets to carry various objects. Without accidents, no one shall be injured, and death will HIGHLY LIKELY not occur.
7.) NO WAR. The community you live in is a peaceful community. We have no reason to fight against one another if we only gain painful memories of our dead, loved ones. Those who WISH to fight in war or BEGIN one shall be sent to a different community, for war gains us nothing. Without war, our families shall stay whole, and no one shall be M.I.A. (Missing In Action) or K.I.A. (Killed In Action).
There would be a perfect world without these problems: murder, stealing, hunger, poverty, illness, accidents, and war. First off, murder. If murder was to happen, I would make a law that says: who ever commits murder shall be sent straight to the worst-treated jail EVER. Second, stealing. If someone stole, I would punish them harshly by (most likely) having them starve. Third, hunger. If a problem comes upon me, such as hunger, I would trade money for food. With that food, I would put them in stores so people could buy them and not starve. If people have no money, such as if they lost their job, I would order the company they used to work for to give them a job so they can have money. If they have a job and they still do not have money, then I would demand the company they work for to give them a higher salary. Fourth, illness. If a doctor were to figure out the cure to a deadly illness, I would reward him/her with his/her necessities. Fifth, accidents. To prevent accidents, I would put more, bigger, and better signs to alert the driver and make the driver more cautious. And last but not least, war. I do NOT allow war, NOT AT ALL. If people have complaints, they should come to me, and I would do my best to resolve all of their problems. The complaints could result from how much candy costs to the changing of the law. I would try my best to resolve distractions that distract me from having a perfect world.

ReplyDeleteYou say 'For accidents, I can make a law of "No one shall make accidents of injuring or killing anyone.' How do you outlaw accidents if, as the word suggests, it is an accident? I understand your thought, but I do not think what you are saying is possible because accidents happen unnecessarily.
If I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would organize my new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems by establishing strict rules and laws for all of the people in the community to follow. If anybody, even myself, broke these very significant rules, punishment, such as jail time, isolation, or privileges being relieved, will take occurrence. Jail time would be determined on the crime the person committed. Privileges will be taken away as a minor punishment while isolation from the rest of the community would be the ultimate punishment besides staying in jail until the end of the committer's life. With these rules, the wrong thing should not even exist as everyone would be taught to learn to never do the wrong thing. This community would be the very best it could be, with creativity and people living up to their maximum (good) potential. People would always try to stay on the right path. The community would be happy, as there will be nothing to fear. There will be no pain, violence, accidents, war, murder, suicide, genocide, stealing, starvation, or breaking of the rules. This community would have all the negative removed and more positive. Everything should always be happy and life should be enjoyed. Everything would be great as everyone should be pleased.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over somewhere new, I would begin by feeding all of the citizens to prevent hunger. If all the people were fed, I wouldn't have to worry about people fighting or killing others for food. After this, I would stay on equal terms to other places to prevent war from destroying anything. There would be rules that say that people must keep clean at all times to stay healthy and away from germs and sicknesses. I would also provide everyone homes to stop others from gaining germs from living on the ground all the time. Next, there would be no need of items called money and we could trade items with others so people would not go into poverty or need to steal. There will only be vehicles driven or piloted by those trained to do so to prevent accidents or dangers from happening to the citizens. If any murders happened and the person who did the murder was found, I would capture them and isolate that person by sending that person out in the wild where dangers lay and never allow them back into the civilization to stop any other murders from happening to the townspeople. With these laws enforced, the community would have to killers, thieves, careless drivers, homeless people, casualties, or dead people. No one would starve and my community would have absolutely no violence or misfortune happen to it.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would start by making very strict, but doable laws so people do not commit crimes like stealing or murdering. Stealing and murdering are not good things to do; if you do not want anything of yours stolen from you or your life to be taken away, you should not do that to others. Basically, these laws will do as much as they could to prevent people from killing or stealing. Second, I will try my best to stop bad accidents. In the world, everyone makes accidents that they do not mean to do; in this world, there will be less accidents. I will make sure that everything is more stable and all the things that usually cause accidents will be more safe.Third, I will try my best to stop hunger and poverty. Usually, hunger is started by poverty, meaning being poor. People who suffer from poverty are not able to buy food, so they later suffer from hunger. People who suffer from hunger sometimes die because there is not food to fill their system. Even though in this world, it is not our problem that people in places with bairly any food starve, I still think it is generous and polite to help the people who suffer from hunger and poverty. Lastly, I will try to stop war. Every year, thousands of people all over the world die from war because of reasons like slaver or oil. In my world, I will try my best to stop war. People may need recources that we have, and we might not give them the resources, and we might need resources from other places, but those places will not give the recources, so we might fight for our battles; but war is not the way to fix things. I will try limiting war by instead of fighting physically, we could fight verbally, in a nice way. We will not use bad language, but we will try talking out the fights instead of actually going to war. In my world, there will be certain laws that need to be done that will bring less negative situations, and more positive situations; there will be less fighting, less people dieing every day, and less of more negative things.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place faraway, I would organize my community to eliminate or prevent each of these problems by carefully constructing a carefully selected set of laws. For murder, I would say that,"Those who murder will be severely punished." This would eliminate murder and the world would be a place of people living instead of being killed. For stealing, I can say that," Those who steal shall be punished depending on what they stole." This would eliminate stealing and the world would be a place where people did not steal from one another. For hunger, I can say that, "Extra food should be donated to those in need." This would eliminate hunger and then people would not die of starvation. For poverty, I can say that, " Donate extra and old objects to those who are less fortunate." This would eliminate poverty and then people would not be judged and put into social classes. For illness, I could say that, " Help the sick and find cures!" This would eliminate illness and then we would all live and no one would die from sickness. For accidents, I would say that, " Be careful and don't cause accidents or you will be punished!" This would destroy accidents and we would be safer now. For war, I would say that, " Be kind to others and do not start arguments that could lead to a war!" This would eliminate war and we could branch out to other countries and then we could make friends with other people thus making the world a better place.
ReplyDeleteNumber 25 and 19: I agree with _______. Most accidents never happen on purpose. Ninety percent of the time (or more) the accidents ARE accidents. I understand as well, but try to put it clearer so others will understand, too.
ReplyDeleteNumber 01:
ReplyDeleteWhat if, for some reason, people would start having fear? What would you do to try to resolve the problem? "Everything would be great as everyone should be pleased." what are you trying to point out in that phrase? What if people were very frustrated with the rules and they expressed it, in some way; what would they be sentenced to?
Number 23: In this phrase, how would you plan on MAKING people do these things?: "...I will make all people happy by making them loving, respectful, kind, understanding, unselfish, and giving to each other."

ReplyDeleteThank you for your insights on my comment; however, I do not understand what you mean by "making it clearer". I felt that my comment was very clear. Please explain on how I may make it easier for others to understand.
Thank you.
If I could start over on a different planet or somewhere very far away, then I would make that place as safe and as comfortable to live in as possible. The perfect world, in my opinion, is a world where there is no problems and only peace with everyone. To avoid problems I would make rules for people to follow. Just in general a few of these rules will be be:
ReplyDelete1. No Killing
2. No Stealing
3. No Vandalizing
If these rules were to be broken, then there would be punishments such as jail time. These rules will enhance the idea of a better community that everyone will enjoy. I would provide food for the hungry, build homes for the homeless, and not start any wars let along have any wars.
If I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would make my place safe of harm. The usual rules of no killing, hurting, cussing, stealing, vandalizing, etc. would apply to everyone except for People with Authority. (The People with Authority are very high in position and have a slight exception for bending any of the rules.) Anything that would affect anything and anyone in a bad way would be strictly banned. If anyone broke the rules, then that person would be punished. A light punishment would be losing a very important privilege, a medium punishment would be having to live in a very small room called the Shame Room with no food or beds or etc. for a day, and a harsh punishment would be losing privileges and living in the Shame Room for two- four days, depending on how harsh the wrong doing was. There would be no poverty and hunger for a meal would be chosen from a menu by each family and everyone and no one would have to pay. Also, there would be no such thing as poverty because everyone would be given jobs, money, houses, etc. Thus, there would be no way people would be poor. My people could use money to buy accessory, self- selected food (not in the food menu for meals,)toys, pets, clothing, extra furniture, etc. Overspending money and ending up broke would just mean that you cannot buy items that would be just for your appeal. The Main Committee (the program that provides the houses, food, and necessary clothing) would give you all the main necessities. There would be no tax for your tax would just be working your best in your job. My world would be the most comfortable and the most fair.
ReplyDeleteOur world is plagued by problems. Murder, stealing, hunger, poverty, illness, accidents, and war are just some of the troubles that we face in the world today. If I had a chance to start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would you organize your new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems. Strict rules should be created to restrict murder, stealing, and other horrid acts. I believe in punishments suited for actions. The man who commits murder shall trade a life for a life. War is another issue. As Albert Einstein said, "To my mind, to kill in war is not a whit better than to commit ordinary murder." Killing our brethren is such a silly matter. In a way, it is like two children fighting over a toy. Why can't we all share? Accidents happen, but over a time where patterns start to shape, it becomes to seem intentional. Lastly, there is the problem of illness, poverty, and hunger. I would focus money into centers where we can share food to less fortunate people, money, where we can share our wealth and pleasure, and hospitals, where we may someday find the cure for cancer. Solving issues sound easy, maybe they are; however, actions do speak louder than words. Quoted from George Bernard Shaw, "When a man wants to murder a tiger, he calls it sport; when the tiger wants to murder him, he calls it ferocity. The distinction between crime and justice is no greater.”
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over in another world or in another place, my place would have no wars.Violence would be forbbidden and everyone gets along. For every very little thing you make a mistake on you must apologize. My community would force rules upon the people in order to preserve justice and order. Crime is a negative factor that must be brought down!
ReplyDeleteIf I could start a new community on a brand new planet, the I would organize my community as a City with many laws restricting murder and stealing. If anyone breaks these laws, then the person who committed the crime will spend up to ten years in jail. With these laws, my new planet would have peace all over the world.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would rid my community of terrible people such as murders. I would have strict rules about those kinds of bad things. If anyone tries to do such bad things, I would have them make a public apology to my community and then put in prison. Then, that would probally teach them not to do such horrible things.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start all over on another planet, I would eliminate murder, stealing, hunger, poverty, illness, accidents, and war. To me, a perfect world is a place without these kinds of problems. They make the world a worse place to live in. I would eliminate murder and stealing by giving harsh punishments to those who commit the crime. If it is someone’s first time of stealing or murdering, they would have to be in jail for about 10 years, depending on what they did. If the same person commits the same crime, I would punish them by maybe having one of their fingers chopped off because most of stealing and murdering is done by the hands. In Singapore, this is what the government does if someone does graffiti. Speaking of graffiti, I would eliminate that as well. Instead of seeing ugly handwriting all over public walls, there could be nice, solid color walls. Graffiti makes a world look awful; some people even paint trees with graffiti! You are supposed to respect nature, not make it hideous. Nature provides you many things. Trees provide oxygen, dirt provides food, and the trees that grow fruits also provide fresh food for us humans to eat. If trees are mistreated, they might not be able to grow food. So, is someone does graffiti, they would face the same punishments as what you do if you steal or murder. To decrease poverty, I would establish associations where people could donate money and clothes to the poor. Many homeless people out on the streets, as you can see, have to wear the same clothing everyday because they cannot even afford food, how can they afford clothing? Seeing people on the streets just hurt because they don’t have a roof to live under like most humans. Therefore, we are very lucky to be so fortunate. So, if you’re fortunate, might as well share with the people that aren’t. To also help the poor, I would place large bins all over the place for people to donate canned food. Canned food would only be accepted because it does not go to waste as fast as regular food. Whenever you eat, don’t you ever think about the poor? For example, when the tsunami in Japan happened don’t you feel bad for the children that lost their parents and the parents that lost their children? Well, I do. When that tsunami happened, many stores started an association to help those in Japan. I tried to save up twenty dollars to help those people and then reached my goal and donated the money needed. In my world, I would help the poor by doing all of these deeds. To decrease illness, you MUST respect nature. If you mistreat trees, their fruits could go bad and if you accidently eat it, you could get sick. This is a terrible thought, but it could happen. In my “new faraway home” I would drop the prices of medicine and checkups since not all people could provide it. This would INDEED help citizens. I would eliminate wars by making laws that making fun of others’ skin color and religion is outrageous, and if you do this, you could be sent in jail. Many people still discriminated others today, and are not placed in jail. I believe that discrimination should be a law. Discriminating others’ culture and skin colors would not only make the person feel bad, it would also make you feel bad when you think about it. Most wars are caused because of all of these actions. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. even died just because he was speaking up for his race, African-Americans. I KNOW that these laws and deeds will make a great place to live in.
ReplyDeleteIf I can start start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would make sure that there is no war and crime. I would have people to obey laws I set up. If a person does not follow my rules or commits a crime like stealing, they would go to prison for ten years.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would organize my new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems by begining laws restricting murder and stealing. This would be the main laws that my new community would be based on. Without people murdering and stealing, there would be no one going to jail. Everyone in my new community would be equal. Everyone's opinion would be heard. Each person's side of the story would be heard as well. This would ensure that there will be no war.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start over, on another planet, or in a place far away, I would organize my new community to prevent or eliminate each of these problems by making laws of not doing each of these problems of murder, stealing, hunger, poverty, illness, accidents, and war is that I would first, say that there is no stealing, no killing, no lying, and no doing something wrong and blame it on another person. If people break these rules, they will be punished or will go to jail for five through ten years. If every person follow these rules, my world will be happy and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIf I could restart on another planet, I would make it a better place for people to live by having no poverty, illness, or war and make it a better place for all to live. By having harsh punishments and by laying down strict rules that students will be strictly taught in school I could prevent poverty in the planet. Stealing could be prevented by having cameras at every corner and having people watching these cameras all the time and by preventing burglars from leaving their house until they die. I would prevent hunger by having a type of garden or greenhouse in the backyard of every dwelling and by having food banks where the hungry can get food. By having people donating money and having programs where the poor can receive free things such as clothing, food, and places to sleep. Illnesses will be prevented by having a large amount of research groups to study for the cure to these illnesses. War will be prevented by making war illegal. If two countries were to declare war, then the two countries will be forced to thrive by themselves without support or goods from other countries. The rulers of the two countries would be dethroned and sent to prison for life. These solutions can make the planet an enjoyable, fear-free place to live for all.
ReplyDeleteIf I could start a new world, I would make laws, such as no violence and crime. Everyone would have the same things, and wear the same clothing so other people would not be jealous and steal from them. There would be the same things for everyone, so no one was "special" and would get stolen from. No one would be poor, and everyone would have their own home. I would have genetic scientists to alter the genetic code of people themselves so that everyone would look the same, thus no segregation. Also, I would use more genetic scientists to alter all plant food, such as broccoli, celery, and tomatoes to grow faster and to be immune to bugs, floods, and other disasters. The human altering scientists would also find a cure for all diseases and input them into human DNA so that everyone wouldn't get sick or die from diseases. Another thing that would be inputted into the human DNA was that if someone did something wrong, a machine that would be inputted into all babies would inject nanoparticles made out of a deadly, fast acting chemical that kills the person who did something wrong quickly and painlessly. There would be machines that tended huge fields of crops that all food grew. The food would then be shipped to all towns all over the world. The same amount would be delivered to all the houses. To make sure that there was enough food, the genetic scientists would input the amount of food a person could eat at certain ages in the DNA. That way, we could monitor every family and send just the right amount of food to each family. Also, there would be no meat because killing animals just for food is not right because we could just eat vegetation as a substitute for meat. Building defenses would be put up in all areas to prevent natural disasters, like earthquakes and tsunamis, like the one that almost destroyed Japan. There would be robots in the ocean, and probes underground to warn the population and stop the disasters. I know I might sound a little overpowering, but this would truly be the perfect world. This is also a little Communistic, but this will work, I assure you, if all these guidelines were followed, a perfect world would follow.

ReplyDeleteIf I could start over in a different planet, I would organize my community into eliminating problems by making all people happy, loving, kind, unselfish, respectful, understanding and giving by:
1] Educating children at an early age
2] Giving rewards for good behaviors
3] Setting an example of happy living
4] Those who don’t exhibit good behavior stay in school until they learn
If I could start over on another planet, I would encourage medical advances to be made to prevent illness.I would prevent murder and stealing by two ways-setting laws to stop them, and set video cameras to monitor safety. War can be stopped from happening by banding with reliable people and solve the problems. To prevent poverty, I would encourage growing healthy organic food, and reward those workers with extra food.
There would be nothing to worry about, the world have peace. Every hour, every person in a village would stand outside and lay on the floor and rest.
ReplyDeleteIf I could live in a new planet where their are not murders, kidnapers, and people sealing live would be wonderful and pleasant. Kids will not have to be careful. Parent will be happy. Police will not have to found body laying around.
