There are many positive aspects of the Community. Jonas's Community's etiquette is exceptional. There is no lying, rude questions, and bad behavior that exists in our world. THe community's ruling system is okay as well. People's choices will not harm others since there are not many choice in your lifetime. The Council also gives all the power to themselves so the Community runs smoothly until someone decides to uncover the truth.

Your just making the Council look good by creating Utopia. No one has the wisdom to make good choices by bearing all memories from the Community and Elsewhere to the receiver. Eventually the Community will downfall when someone like Jonas decides to reveal the truth to the members.

If the Council of Elders make the wrong choice, people would get upset because they couldn't get the right choice to make. People in this Community will not experience what life is really like. You cannot also be in a family that you really care about because they are not people who gave you birth. This is also missing out on real life. After Jonas and other members of the Community recive their jobs, they cannot really see each other for the rest of their life. They don't have a lot of freetime to do what they like.

For example, when you choose your own job, if the Elders tell you to be a miner even thogh you want to me doctor, are you going to be happy about it?Even in U.S., which has so many crimes, gives people their freedom to speech, to believe, to become, and to write. So having no crime is not better than no freedom.
As Jonas's world rages on with hatred, there is still some positive aspects in his world. The place is disciplined meaning there are no hurt feelings. Also to the point where you can be feeling joy and safety as you go outside, no mean comments to insult anyones looks or intelligence.

Another positive thing about the Community is that everyone gets a job that suits them. Unlike our community today, no one will lose a job in the Community. Politeness is a huge thing for the Community. If you're late, you have to apologize. Life in the Community is simple and has less stress.
ReplyDeleteEven though the Community is organized, there are many negative aspects about it. Since the Elders make decisions for people, people don't get to have there own freedom to choose what they want for their lives. Also, after turning into a Twelve, age is not important anymore, so people sometimes forget their ages. People don't have much freedom; they don't know anything other than what they have been taught. For example, they do not know what freedom is. Everyone's birthdays happen in the same two days,so no one is different. People in the Community do not get much privacy. They are expected to say what they dreamed about the night before, and what they are feeling by the end of the day. People also don't get married to the person they love. The Elders choose a person husband/wife. The Elders chooses everything for people, and people do not get the opportunity to make decisions in their own lives.

ReplyDeleteThe negative aspects of the community Jonas lives in are you do not get the freedom to make many of your own choices. The community has high expectations and will not be changed. The consequences and rules are also very harsh like releasing a child when already having a boy and girl for a family unit.
ReplyDeleteThe bad parts of the Community are that there are no choices. We couldn't have a say in anything. There is also no freedom to say what we want. The people don't know anything about the outside world. NO one gets their own privacy because they have to share everything. The children can't be with their real parents they are assigned to a family unit. They are also assigned jobs.
ReplyDeleteThere are many positive aspects about the Community. The family units all share their feelings so their parents could fix it. And their family units also take care and protect their kids. It is also very rare if one if the kids get hurt or die because the family unit is very protective over them. Also the Elders watch them very closely so when they get their assignments it is always the right one and it is very rare when they are disappointed with their assignment.
ReplyDeleteEven though the Community has positive aspects there are also negative aspects. Since the Elders chose their assignment they don't have the right to choose what they want to be. Also the kids have no freedom because they don't get a bike until they are nine and girls have to wear hair ribbons until they are about ten years old. Kids also don't have the freedom because everyday during dinner or so they have to share their feelings even if they don't want too. And in the morning they share their dreams to their family unit before leaving too school.

Elders choose what their assignments are, what newchild they recieve, how their newchild will grow up, and many other things. Without having the freedom of their own life decisions they will never experience freedom.
ReplyDeleteI think the posative aspects of the community are that like is pretty much very easy there is very little work put on every person, so there is little stress. They do not have to worry about the normal things like looking nice becuase they have a uniform or finishing there work on time becuase they have very little work to do. They also do not need to worry about things like fighting with their friends becuase they have rules against being rude and violent which are ussually the things that triger fights.

Neither children or adults are free to do anything, for example their jobs are chosen for them whether they like it or not, they cannot express themselves becuase they have to wear a uniform, and they cannot shoose when they want to do things like when they want to start riding a bike or start thier volenteer hours. They get no say in anything, and I would not enjoy that.
ReplyDeleteSome of the positive effects of Jonas's community are that the Elders make almost all the choices for every single person in the community, so that everything is ordered and there is no conflict, when a person turns Twelve, they are assigned a job and they cannot lose their job or change it, with the exception of Birthmother, and the fact that the community makes life so easy and simple for people to live in with no violence or other pains.

The Elders in the Community choose what people's roles are, which takes away the community members' freedom. There are speakers to listen to what everyone is saying, and if they hear anything spoken that they think is inapropriate,they change the rules, or add new rules. This give the community members no control of their of lives, for everything is chosen for them.
ReplyDeleteSome of the negative aspects of Jonas's community are that people cannot have the freedom of making their own choices like picking a spouse, Assignment, or a child, you have very strict rules about everything, releasing of people is very cruel, and the fact that you have almost no free time to do a fun thing you want. Life in the Community is not very fun, though they live very orderly and peacefully.

ReplyDeleteCommunity. One if them is that the Elders get to have the preasure of having to chose everyone's role in life, while you don't. Another thing is that if you do something wrong or out of order, all you have to do is apologize. Not even a slight punishment! Since the Elders take care of society, the citizens don't have to worry about anything.
Even if the Community is a highly organized system, there can be negative aspects. First of all, the citizens never know the meaning of freedom or choice. Besides, who would want that?

It will be good because no one will be hurt in his or her mind. Also, there will be no people who are afraid or worried to go outside. No worry or anger by rudness means no stress.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Utopia has many positive affects, it also has some negetive affects. In Utopia, the Elders make decisions for Juniors. This will take the Junior's freedom away. For example, when you choose your own job, if the Elders tell you to be a miner even thogh you want to me doctor, are you going to be happy about it?Even in U.S., which has so many crimes, gives people their freedom to speech, to believe, to become, and to write. So having no crime is not better than no freedom.
ReplyDeleteAs Jonas's world rages on with hatred, there is still some positive aspects in his world. The place is disciplined meaning there are no hurt feelings. Also to the point where you can be feeling joy and safety as you go outside, no mean comments to insult anyones looks or intelligence.
ReplyDeleteThe community is peaceful, but not in a good way. The community don't even know the word freedom and their choices weren't chosen themselves, but chosen for them. Their age was considered a thing and families were referred to as units. In Jonas's time, it's not the home of the free.
ReplyDeleteThe positive aspects of Jonas's community are that the kids in the neighborhood become respectful. They get their independence as they grow up. They become good members of the community. The people in the community also do good things. The community has certain rules that they have to follow. Following the rules would make people the law obeying member of the comunity. Another positive aspect is that they get Assignments that they have to complete. They become responsible people. They are also organized by their age and number they get when they are born. The people share what they dreamed and how they feel. They become a very well organized community.
ReplyDeleteThere are also some negative aspects in Jonas's community. The people in the community don't have the choice to choose their assignments. The rules are very strict. People are not allowed to have more than two kids in the family. This rule limits the freedom of the people. They also don't let people choose their own jobs. Some people have to accept jobs that they don't want. These rules violate people's right and freedom of choice. People lack their independence due to the rules. Kids don't get their independence for many simple things that kids of same age in different communities can do. Voluntary work is supposed to be voluntary, not mandatory. The people in the community are not allowed to joke around and play. These rules violate people's right of free speech and freedom of enjoyment. The rules in this community can be very unfair.

The second is that everyone has a job in the Community, based on what you excel in. The last is that you do not have to do much, for the Elders chose everything for you.
ReplyDeleteSo far, the positive aspects of the Community are that everybody feels accepted. Also, there are no homeless people; everyone is taken care of. All of the people contribute to the Community and are told what to do. For example, everyone is given a family, a dwelling, and at Twelve, they are given a job. There are many rules for the Community and the discipline is harsh so most people follow them. Everyone is required to have good grammar and apologize if they do something wrong. All of this structure makes the Community have a very positive atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThe communtity can have its positive aspects such as having an assigned job that removes the worry of rejection of a job and not to mention it is a job that fits your qualities. Another good aspect is that many fun objects are given to you as you age such as a bike when your age 9.
ReplyDeleteThere are some negative aspects of the community as well. One thing is that all decisions are made for you and so you really have no say or freedom. Another is there are harsh punishments such as physical hits when a child misbehaves.
ReplyDeleteWhile there are many positive things about the Community, there are also many negative aspects. One negative thing is that you have no choice in your spouse or job. When you are parents, you are only allowed to have one boy and one girl and you have no say in what they are named. Also, your children aren't related by blood. It is hard to remember and obey all of the rules and children can't ride a bike until Nine. When you are a Three, it is hard to remember to use correct grammar and the consequence is very painful. In the Community people aren't allowed to make many choices of their own.

ReplyDeleteThe negative aspects of Jonas's community is that since your children aren't really your children, there isn't a special bond. you have no choices to make because it is already chosen FOR you. Sometimes that is a good thing and sometimes it is a bad thing. Life isn't very exciting when you don't make choices.

ReplyDeleteThe negative aspects of the Community is that everyone can't make their own decisions, you are like a little three-year-old, when your parents are choosing decisions for you, for the best. That means the people of the Community might lay all of their depends on the council; which is not good. The teachers give painful hits to the students if they do something wrong. I think that the parents should handle all of these troubles, the parents are the ones that protect and teach their children how to behave, so I think that teachers should not punish the kids, it has to be deicded on the parents.
